Spend a day with a Barat student
The Shadowing Program is a great way for a student to experience a day in the life of a Barat student. Please know that our school will do everything to ensure that your child’s visit is a positive and meaningful experience. Below are some of the most Frequently Asked Questions. If you still have questions, please feel free to contact us.
- What is the Shadowing Program?
The Shadowing Program gives current 8th grade students the opportunity to experience a day at Barat. This day can be instrumental in helping a student determine which high school is right for him or her. This program gives a student the “insider’s” point of view. The program will pair our visitor with a current Barat student as his/her Ambassador. The visitor will attend classes and lunch with this Ambassador, and meet administrators and teachers along the way.
- Who can participate in the Shadowing Program?
Any 8th grade student (public or non-public schools) is allowed to participate in the Shadowing Program. The program runs from mid-September through mid-November. 7th grade students are invited to shadow in the spring of their 7th grade year and are welcome to return in the fall of their 8th grade year, if they so choose!
- How many students can participate in the Shadowing Program per day?
In order that each visitor receives individual attention while minimizing the disruption to the academic day, we limit the number of students who are allowed to shadow to 10 each day.
- How far in advance do I need to call to schedule my day in the Shadowing Program?
We begin taking reservations on August 1st for the upcoming school year. While it is not necessary to schedule on that day, please be advised that the traditional “days off” fill up very quickly. We recommend that students interested in the Shadowing Program should call at least one week in advance. To schedule your visit, please contact Admissions at 636.300.5500 or at email@example.com
- What can I expect from my experience?
The Shadowing Program is designed to give a student the most comprehensive Barat experience possible. With modified block scheduling, each day is a little different; in general, the visitor will be exposed to a day in the life of a Barat student.
- How do I reserve my day in the Shadowing Program? Those interested in participating in the Shadowing Program should contact Admissions at 636.300.5500 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
- What about lunch? Is it included or should I bring a lunch?
If you participate in the Shadowing Program, you are a guest of Barat. Lunch will be compliments of Barat.
- What is the dress code for a visitor?
Because we would like to give the most comprehensive Barat Experience, visitors are encouraged to either wear their school uniform or to dress appropriately which consists of (boys - a collared shirt and dress pants, belt, tennis shoes, socks) (girls – dress pants or skirt, school appropriate shirt and closed toed shoes). Please no cargo pants or shorts.
- Can my Ambassador be a Barat student that I already know?
If you know a current student, please let us know at the time you schedule your visit. Usually, we can pair you with that student as your Ambassador.
- What if there is an emergency while my son or daughter is at Barat?
Visitors must leave an emergency number with the admissions office where a parent or guardian can be reached. Barat does have trained staff to accommodate if immediate assistance is required or medical needs must be met.
