Barat Academy is proud to carry forward Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat’s vision for educating the mind, body and spirit of each child. In her name, we are upholding the tradition of the Sacred Heart as we create a school community that embraces diversity and encourages the development of student leaders in an environment of academic excellence. The following scholarships exist to offset the cost of tuition for students of merit. Multiple scholarships may be awarded under each category. The amount of each scholarship awarded is determined in part by available funds and size of eligible applicant pool. Students must be enrolled at Barat or have an active admissions application to be considered for a scholarship. For current students, Scholarship applications ( download ) are due by deadline TBD..
There are three merit based scholarships (with multiple award recipients in each) ranging from academics to leadership and faith. This allows students of all strengths to apply for and potentially qualify for an award that addresses their achievements.
- The Scholars Awards – awarded to students, incoming or current, who earn a 3.5 GPA or higher. We, at Barat Academy, celebrate students who commit themselves to a deep respect for intellectual values. In addition to submitting the application form, the student’s transcript must reflect a first semester GPA of 3.5 or higher and that GPA must be maintained or bettered for the second semester, during which the application process is underway, in order for the scholarship to be awarded.
- The Faith Awards – awarded to incoming students who attend a faith-based middle school. We, at Barat Academy, celebrate students who commit themselves to a personal and active faith in God. In addition to the application form, eligible applicants must submit a qualifying essay answering the question: “Why do I want to attend a faith-based high school?”
- The Service-Leadership Awards – awarded to students, incoming or current, who demonstrate a proven track record of school and community service and leadership. We, at Barat Academy, celebrate students who display leadership by committing themselves to direct service of others. Eligible applicants must submit a qualifying essay answering the question: “Why is it important to lead the way in serving others?” Eligible applicants must also submit two letters of recommendation from organizations for which service-leadership has been exhibited. Only one of those two letters can come from a teacher or other representative of the school the student attends.
