Admission Process and Timeline at Barat Academy

HIGH SCHOOL NIGHTS: Fall of 6th, 7th, and/or 8th Grade Barat Academy participates in several High School Night presentations throughout the St. Louis area. These High School Night presentations are held at local schools and are attended by representatives of the various private high schools. The purpose of these events is to provide basic information about the school and allow students and parents to ask questions. Click here to see a listing of High School Nights.

Summertime In the summer Barat Academy hosts various camps to better acquaint students with our community. There are numerous opportunities to participate in various camps. These camps are coordinated by members of the Barat faculty coaching staff. To learn more about our Summer Programs click here.

Spend a Day with a Barat Student Program It is also suggested that Prospective Students schedule a day to come participate in our Shadowing Program. We will take reservations beginning on August 1st. The Shadowing Program begins in September. PLEASE NOTE: In order to ensure minimal disruptions in a school day, we limit the number of shadows. August-December of 8th Grade Throughout the Fall of 8th Grade, we will invite Prospective Students to be our guests (free of charge) at various events at Barat. The events include Sporting Events, Theater Performances, and Band Concerts. You can receive information and invitations for these events by clicking on the Request Information link (left margin) and filling out the form. This is a great way for students to come experience life at Barat for themselves, while meeting current students, performers, players, coaches, and faculty.

Barat OPEN HOUSE: First Sunday in November On the first Sunday in November, Barat hosts its annual Open House. The event runs from Noon-4 p.m. and is open to the public. Students from 6th, 7th, and 8th Grades generally attend, but the event is open to anyone. The Open House has guided tours, classroom demonstrations, and student activities throughout the afternoon. Our cafeteria is the center of the activity, where you can:

  • View courses and meet with representatives from each academic department
  • Receive information about our various sports teams and talk to current players
  • Meet with our financial aid representative
  • Learn about Barat’s great student activities, and special interest clubs
  • Talk to current and former parents about their experiences
  • Meet current teachers, administrators, and alumni
  • Discuss the individual needs of your child with our Principal
  • Enjoy food and beverage, free of charge
Applications are Due: Late November For parochial school students, Archdiocesan application forms are distributed through Catholic elementary schools and to PSR directors for all 8th graders applying to Barat. Students attending public schools or other private schools may obtain an application directly from Barat by contacting Alison Hodges at 636.300.5524 or at This email address is being protected from spambots. Parochial school students should return a completed application form to the student’s elementary school by the date indicated on the form. The Catholic elementary school will send the application form and a copy of the student’s grades and standardized test scores to Barat, provided that Barat is listed as the student’s first choice school. Public school students should return the application and student release form directly to Barat.
November-December of 8th Grade Applications and related information of Prospective Students are reviewed by the Barat Administrative Team. Below are the general criteria for acceptance to Barat Academy:
  • Grades and Standardized Test Scores
  • Whole Person Assessment (discipline, attendance record, etc.)
February of 8th Grade Letters of acceptance or non-acceptance are mailed to students in early February. Barat encourages all interested students to apply.
By listing Barat as your first choice, your application is given priority consideration. We will consider late applications if space is available.
Spring of 8th Grade Begin looking for information from Barat about orientation and summer opportunities. This is a good time to schedule an appointment over the summer for a physical, which is required yearly for all students. Enrollment and Financial Aid forms are due.
